A Dance, Not a Duel

We gained a deeper understanding around how to "support" versus "shift" when we are actively listening. We also learned how our "wizard brain' can sometimes cede control to our 'lizard brain,' and how to stop it.

Stop an Amygdala Hijack!

  • Proactively approach (or reflect upon) a situation where your lizard brain might kick in. 

  • Work on a personal practice and put it into action, using the five steps below:


Moving from Lizard to Wizard

  1. Be mindful

  2. Pause (take a breath or two)

  3. Ask “what” instead of “why” 

  4. Take a break

  5. Accept responsiblity
